An old passport photoPersonal

Born in Perth, Western Australia, I now live in Melbourne, Victoria with my wife, Kate. I moved there over ten years ago, so I probably qualify as a local. It's a great city, but a pity about the beaches.

Kate and I recently returned from spending time in the U.K. For pictures and witty commentary, take a look at our blog site.

For the last decade (or more, seems like forever...) I have continued an association with University choirs and the AICSA movement. I have been on the committees of the Perth Undergraduate Choral Society (PUCS), the Melbourne University Choral Society (MUCS), and the Monash University Choral Society (MonUCS). Although none of these groups have auditions, the standard of performance is very high!

More recently, I had a bash at dance classes with the group Swing Patrol. I might not be the next Fred Astaire, but I gained a new appreciation for the skill involved in dancing, if nothing else!

Late in 2002, my Mum was in an accident at her church. My Dad kept a web log of her recovery. She's back home, and has a measure of independence now.

In July 2003, I wrote a speech that I delivered as Best Man at the wedding of Bram and Elizabeth. If you are really bored, you may want to read it.

We've got wireless broadband at home, and I'm an advocate of it. However, Wi-Fi has some gotchas for those who expect it to work like a fixed LAN, and I did some experiments with various file transfer tools that may be of interest to some.

Totally gratuitously, I am linking to Kate's parents' work's website - TPA. They run a business producing corporate videos and other related activities. We bought them the domain name as a christmas present back in 2002.

Also, a couple of friends of mine run a small 'reviews and stuff' website called Tuesday Nighter. I contribute movie review to it from time to time. You might want to check it out and leave a comment.

Lastly, I have a small collection of photographs from various trips I've been on since I bought my SLR camera several years back. It's a Pentax P30T, and although of variable quality, it's fun to use.
