Similarly, there was an awareness that the PDA device segment was disappearing as the PIM (Personal Information Manager) functions were being absorbed into mobiles, with a suspicion that a similar thing would happen to the MP3 player device segment. And Apple had previously tried to launch a mobile with iTunes functionality in it together with Motorola (the ill-fated ROKR).</description>
