The basic idea of a phone that played music had been around for years. Similarly, there was an awareness that the PDA device segment was disappearing as the PIM (Personal Information Manager) functions were being absorbed into mobiles, with a suspicion that a similar thing would happen to the MP3 player device segment. And Apple had previously tried to launch a mobile with iTunes functionality in it together with Motorola (the ill-fated ROKR). @Cassie – I don’t understand the question.
